By the 13th century, two counties were formed in this region: Szerém (in the east) and Valko (in the west).

This needs to be referenced and/or integrated into Administrative divisions of the Kingdom of Hungary. --Joy [shallot] 00:01, 27 August 2005 (UTC)

  • Well, the reference I have is a historic map of Hungary from the 13th century, in which these 2 counties are shown. I do not know exactly were they formed in the 12th or in the 13th century. User:PANONIAN

Here is the map if you can find it useful:

[edit] Requested move

Syrmia (former county) → Szerém – previous moves of Hungarian counties to current names were not discussed. Please discuss at Talk:Križevci (former county). -  AjaxSmack  17:59, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

The move of the names was discussed here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Administrative_divisions_of_the_Kingdom_of_Hungary#Naming_issues Since nobody opposed my proposal for move, I moved these names. These counties were part of the autonomous region Croatia-Slavonia where Croatian was official language, thus names of the counties are written in Croatian.
