The Syracuse Raging Bullz were a team of the American Basketball Association that played during the 2007-08 season. After postponing a couple of games to better market the team, the decision was made to cancel the remainder of the season. The following is posted on their website:
“ | Dear Fans , The Syracuse Raging Bullz have decided to cancel the remainder of the season due to low attendance numbers. Thank you for supporting our team! Sincerely, Syracuse Raging Bullz | ” |
The team was originally known as the Syracuse Bullies. However, due to backlash from the Syracuse community, the team's name changed before the beginning of the ABA season. According to the team, the Bullies' name came from team owner Nicholas Fitts' fondness for the Chicago Bulls and was not meant to condone bullying. Fans were asked to vote between the names Bullz, Netz, Sentinels, Snowballers and Avalanche in online balloting, which ended July 12, 2007. [1] In the end, the owner got to maintain his Chicago Bulls fandom in the name, as the winning name is the Syracuse Raging Bullz [2].
