[edit] Friedrich Kellner

I have a website about Friedrich Kellner on the English Wikipedia and on the German Wikipedia. I would like to somehow link one to the other. I tried that on my English page at the bottom, but I believe you felt it was not done correctly. Could you let me know what I should do? I looked at the help pages, but I was unable to discover an answer. I greatly appreciate your help. The diary is an important historical document, and I do want to make these sites as good as they can be. Thanks a lot,(Rskellner 06:14, 1 October 2006 (UTC))

[edit] Electoral Palace Mainz and other Mainz stuff

Hi Symposiarch,

I have no problem with others doing my work - the only article that I really had wanted to do was Deutschhaus Mainz, so I could get a link to Republic of Mainz on the Main Page :-) But if you have a list of things that need doing (other than the redlinks in this article) and want to share it, maybe I will find something that I want to translate but haven't thought of yet. Feel free to suggest any Mainz-related article and I'll try my best. By the way, there is some more Main Page coverage for Mainz coming up soon: Georg Forster, my only Featured Article, will be article of the day next Tuesday.

Do you have any references that could be added to Electoral Palace Mainz? If yes, please add some, and a referenced article with a nice picture about a building of this importance should easily get a spot on Template:Did you know on the Main Page. Nominations can be made at Template talk:Did you know. If you want, I can nominate the article for you, but without references, it will probably fail unless we can produce a REALLY interesting fact.

Happy editing, Kusma (討論) 13:02, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WP:GER/MZ

You noticed my new little project quickly :-) I hope we can use the project page to coordinate efforts about missing or inadequate articles. Just one thing: The switches in the {{WikiProject Germany}} template are currently case-sensitive, so "start" and "Start" produce different results, and some of the pages you tagged now display incorrectly. Do you think we should have extra importance categories for Mainz alone? It would not be hard to add that to the template. Any comments are welcome at WT:GER and the talk page of WP:GER/MZ. Happy editing, Kusma (討論) 18:59, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

The {{WikiProject Germany}} template is now even more fancy and allows for Mainz-related importance using the MainzImp switch. Valid values are Top, High, Mid, Low. I hope I'll manage to write some more documentation soon. Kusma (討論) 19:53, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for joining, now it doesn't look like a one-person project anymore :-) Kusma (討論) 11:05, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] DYK

Updated DYK query On December 5, 2006, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article St. Stephan Mainz, which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Thankyou for this interesting article Symposiarch. Kusma kindly nominated it for DYK. Please feel free to self-nominate in future. Thanks Blnguyen (bananabucket) 07:46, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Updated DYK query On 18 December 2006, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Paul Haenlein, which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Hello Symposiarch. Well done on the article, which earnt you the pictured slot on DYK. Keep up the great work ! Blnguyen (bananabucket) 00:08, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mainz Cathedral GA nom failed

Thanks for nominating the article. As far as I can tell, the prose is excellent, and everything else is great, except for one thing...inline citations. The GA guidelines state that articles must be referenced using an acceptable style of inline citation (criteria 2b), and, unfortunately, the article at this time has no inline citations whatsoever, which means I cannot pass the article for GA status at this time. I realize that a lot of this was translated from German, but apparantly you live in Mainz and speak German. Perhaps you could get the books that were used as sources out of a local library and then use Template:Cite book for all the facts in the article? Just a suggestion. Gutes Glück (hopefully I translated that right) and happy editing, Green451 02:46, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome to WikiWine

Welcome to the Wikipedia wine project. Don't worry about the number of participants; most of us participate in the project only occasionally. Hopefully you will find the time to expand some of the wine articles that interest you. -Amatulic 22:03, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] DYK entries

Entries at T:DYKT usually go under date of creation, not date of nomination. I have moved and signed yours (see Template_talk:Did_you_know#January_8), hoping you wouldn't mind :-) I have also put the fact on Portal:Germany's DYK page. Happy editing, Kusma (討論) 09:44, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

BTW I heard somewhere that Goethe also (probably for fun) fired a cannon during the siege, but that shot didn't hit anything. If we can find a source for that statement, perhaps "...that during the Siege of Mainz, German poet Goethe fired a cannon at the city?" is a more interesting DYK entry, However, as long as it's a rumor from my memory, it's not good enough I guess :-( Kusma (討論) 09:47, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Palatinate of the Rhine

Hi there, I noticed you recently added Palatinate of the Rhine to the WineProject. I am not sure I agree with your decision. I agree with you that the Rhine valley is a very important wine growing region. Since you are from Mainz I am sure that you are well aware of this fact. My objection is that the article has to do with a historic political entity that no longer exists. Es gibt einfach keinen Kurpfalz mehr. Unless you are creating a article about the history of wine making, then it might be relevant, but that should probably be an article of itself. I would suggest you design modern political entities as relevant to wine growing, or focus on regions: Rheinland-Pfalz, Rhine River Vally, Baden-Württemberg, something like that. imars 12:24, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Rheinland-Pfalz would be a good idea, as it comprises 66% of the area cultivated with grapes in Germany. --Symposiarch 13:58, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Apologies to everyone for this notification being sent out so late, events in real life prevented me from distributing it at the time, and the Wine Project's had a bit of a lull during the Northern Hemsiphere summer. But as the nights draw in, activity should pick up again, and hopefully the next Newsletter will arrive a little more quickly....

[edit] Archbishopric of Mainz

Hi Symposiarch,

Good to have someone from Mainz aboard! I was considering creating a separate article for the State Electorate of Mainz from the article for the Archbishopric. What do you think?

Also, I had changed the predecessor of the Mainz to the Duchy of Franconia because it was from Rhenish Franconia that the ecclesiastical principalities for Mainz, Worms and Speyer came to power. (See [3]) I think this is preferable to having Nothing as a prededessor since the area did have a government before the Archbishopric gained power.

Cheers! Tartessos75 20 October 2007 —Preceding comment was added at 18:08, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Salve Tartessos75, for the State Electorate of Mainz you are right, there was a predecessor, but not for the ecclesiastic bishopric of Mainz. But it was not the Duchy of Franconia--Symposiarch 20:58, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
That's the problem with the info box. Although it is a "Former States" info box, the information it contains is a mixture of info about the secular state and the ecclesiastical archbishopric.

Tartessos75 —Preceding comment was added at 00:54, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

It is not only a problem of the infobox. This had been adressed in WP:GER/MZ, but not yet resolved.--Symposiarch 09:01, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mainz addition / Mainz DYK

Hello Symposiarch, I must say that I am a bit... well, angry is the wrong word - irritated I guess - at two things you did recently. First you place Port of Mainz at DYK, without telling me (I was going to say COMPETING with or CHANGING my own submission, but you actually got in there first, to boot!) so that YOUR hook about the Roman port was accepted instead of MY own hook about the staple rights. I had been planning that hook for a few days, but first wanted to finish the article!

Well, you meant well, and it DID end up on DYK - but please ask the creator next time, he may have his own opinions on appropriate hooks and so on! Cheers Ingolfson (talk) 07:39, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Oh, the second thing - your addition about Napoleonic times and how the stones of the Martinsburg were used for the port. As a reference you give the German article (when it is necessary to give another wiki (not good anyway) as a reference, then please put it in the article as a ref, not in the edit history, where it will be gone and lost soon). However, the German article had no references at all! Not good at all - I'll root a round a little to see if I can find any real references, if not... Please always provide references. See ya - Ingolfson (talk) 07:39, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, I just found your comments here. I did not want to irritate you. I did not reflect your potential objectives. --Symposiarch (talk) 16:01, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

well, thank you for recognizing me as a Geisenheimer, but I am expert in beverage technology, not in viticultural.--Symposiarch (talk) 21:19, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
