Symbion Power is a US engineering and construction company that specializes in electrical infrastructure projects outside the USA. During 2005/2006 Symbion Power won $250m USD of competitively bid fixed price US government contracts for critical transmission lines and electrical substations throughout Iraq.

Symbion Power works collaboratively with partners from the areas in which they are building projects. In Iraq they have teamed with various local companies and have provided them with off site training to improve their capability and capacity. 400kms of 400kV transmission line is being built in Al Anbar Province using local workers trained in northern Iraq. In Baghdads Sadr City, Symbion Power is building new gas insulated substations. Similar projects are ongoing in 2007 in Fallujah, Ramadi, Dohuk, Hilla and Basrah.

In Iraq and Afghanistan Symbion Power has mutually exclusive agreements in place to work with the major the multinational engineering company Areva, for both power plant and substation pojects.

Similar agreements exist with Turkish manufacturer and contractor Ozdil for transmission line projects.

Outside the United States Symbion Power has offices in London (UK), Limmasol (Cyprus), Amman (Jordan), Iraq and Afghanistan. The company is privately owned by engineering firm Symbion Projects and security company Hart Security. Founding members are CEO Paul Hinks who has extensive international experience working in conflict zones and poverty stricken countries, Chairman Olle Sundberg is a fomer banker and senior executive of Hart Security and Director Lord Richard Westbury is a former officer in the British SAS.
