[edit] Nickname?
I have never heard this nickname. Could someone please cite a source for it? Otherwise I'll delete. --Wspencer11 (talk to me...) 17:41, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- I find it as a quote from Prokofiev-- he states he wanted to write a work of "iron and steel." Grove gives the quote, though without explicitly stating that it comes from Prokofiev. But since it's the best source I could find on short notice, I've used that. Dekkappai 19:41, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- Much better...I am well aware of how P referred to it, but had never heard the phrase used as an actual nickname. --Wspencer11 (talk to me...) 20:26, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- Since it does not appear to be an actual nickname, I'll remove "Iron and Steel" from Template:Prokofiev symphonies. Also, I notice that the keys of the symphonies on the template, whether major or minor, all use upper-case letters (e.g. "No. 2 in D minor"). I'm tempted to put the minor keys in lower-cases, but don't want to kick up a controversy when I'm still a new editor in this field. Is this "D minor" standard here? [edit] Form of the Piece
The theme of second movement of the piece does not come from Beethoven's Op.111 Piano Sonata. On the other hand, the two-movement structure of the piece: Sonata-Allegro, and Theme and Variations, does resemble Beethoven's Op.111 Piano Sonata. Maestroukr 00:01, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
