[edit] "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance?"

The article says:

"In the UK and North America, the film has been screened under the title Lady Vengeance."

So naturally I wonder, in which regions is it screened under the English title "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance"? —Tokek 15:40, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

A fair question. According to IMDb, it is called "Chinjeolhan Geumjassi" (친절한 금자씨), which has a literal translation of "Kind-Hearted Ms. Geum-Ja", which is presumably the actual R3 Korean title, give or take. The HK version is entitled "My Lady Vengeance", and the Phillipines version "Shed Tears for Lady Vengeance".
I suspect that Park himself may have initially labelled the USA/UK release of the film "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance", as he had done previously with "Sympathy for Mr Vengeance" (purposefully changing it from it's Korean title Boksuneun Naui Geot (복수는 나의것) - lit. trans.: Vengeance Is Mine).
Either that or whoever was marketing the film wanted to make it clear that it was "related" to Mr Vengeance by giving it as similar a title as possible. Posters were certainly released with the "Sympathy for..." title, prior to the film's release. On Asian shopping sites, the English title "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" is frequently used for any Asian version of the film (I've seen this on Korean, Hong Kong and Japanese sites). But to be honest, I haven't seen any version with the actual full title, in English, on the cover. Maybe someone else can cast some light on this? Gram 11:27, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Although it hasn't had a cinematic release in Australia (as far as I know), when I saw it here as part of the Brisbane Film Festival it was screened under the title "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance". The DVD is also going to be released under that title. Kristette 14:40, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Name in synopsis

"Geum-ja" is the characters first name. Shouldn't she be referred to throughout the synopsis as "Lee"? Gram 13:58, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
