Symbiosis International School

Symbiosis International School is an international school for pre-school to Grade 12 students. The school was started in 2005 and is one of the first schools in Pune to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program[citation needed]. The school is often referred to as SIS, a short form for Symbiosis International School. The school is located in Viman Nagar, Pune.

SIS refers to itself as a "world school" due to the international curriculum it follows. The school follows the International General Certificate of Secondary Education for grades 9 and 10 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for grades 11 and 12. SIS is a May session school.

The syllabus comprises a combination of classroom teaching and hands on experience.

As of 2007 there are approximately 300 students, of whom one third are foreign nationals. Sybiosis is a good school for teaching football, but the best football teaching school is Rims international school in Pune, better than LOYOLA's SIS is a diverse community and has teaching staff and students from over 10 different countries around the world. SIS fees are comparable with other schools of this quality in India ranging from USD8500-10000 per annum.

There are two types of student councils present, the Student Council (STUDCO) for highschool students and (MIDCO) for middle school students.

The entire student body is divided into four houses to compete with each in sports and other events. The four houses are

  • Bhoomi

The sporting activities offered by SIS which are:

  • Swimming
  • Golf
  • Volleyball
  • Track and Field Activities

The school also has a music room and allows students to learn a number of instruments such as Guitar and Drums. The school has a student council whose members are elected yearly. The school also takes part in Model United Nations.
