Sylvia Hale

Sylvia Phyllis Hale is an Australian politician, she has been a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council since 2003 for The Greens. She was previously a member of No Aircraft Noise from 1994 - 1999, before she joined the Greens in 2000. She was also previously a councillor on Marrickville Council from 1995 - 2004.

She graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Arts (BA), Graduate Diploma in Education (DipEd), 1964, and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), 1998.

She is a social justice, community and environmental campaigner. She was involved in student activism at the University of Sydney during the 1960s and afterwards spent four years teaching in NSW’s public high schools.

In 1977 she started the independent publishing company, Hale and Iremonger, with John Iremonger.[1]
