Sylvester Sim

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sylvester Sim (simplified Chinese: 沈祥龙; pinyin: Shěn Xiánglóng; born January 19, 1983) is a Singaporean singer. He was the first runner-up of the talent contest Singapore Idol. He is widely known as Sly to his fans.

A self-professed rocker and playboy, his bad-boy image resulted in him nearly getting eliminated from the contest. A report that he was engaged to fellow contestant Maia Lee caused a minor scandal, but they have since cancelled their wedding plans, saying that they are concentrating on their careers.

Sim's first album, Take Flight (traditional Chinese: 起飛; simplified Chinese: 起飞; pinyin: Qǐ Fēi), was released in April 2005. He also has a role in Shooting Star as a coffee-shop owner's son in Singapore. His contract with his management, Hype Records, has been terminated recently citing personal reasons.

Sylvester is currently performing in local club, Dragonfly, at the old St James Power Station. He performs there every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, together with a troupe of veteran mando-pop singers.
