Syed Yazid

Syed Yazid (born 12 August 1978, also known as 'SY') is a Malaysian unionist with a background in business and finance. He became an active unionist and a member of the Pekida Committee.

Malaysia's current Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is the patron of the Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (PEKIDA). His union activities led him into wider politics and he joined the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) Party in 2003. Again he became an active member and was soon elected to Yayasan Pekida Malaysia where he went on to become Chairman of the Welfare, Youth and Sports. He also holds the top positions of Koperasi Pekida Malaysia.

Syed Yazid's participation in the Malaysian football scene is evident with his high profile positions and involvement in football-related associations. Syed Yazid was the Team Manager of the Nibong Tebal Football Association (NTFA) which competing in Malaysian Premier League.

Syed Yazid was born at the General Hospital, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, graduated with a degree in International Business Administration which he gained from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, United Kingdom.

Syed Yazid has been called everything from a recluse to a humble, silent worker. Not much is known about him and his tightly guarded private life because he maintains such a low profile. He is also a close friend to the Tan's family which previously owned Southern Bank Berhad. He is also known to be generous and donates to charities as well as has established Program Keusahawanan Yayasan Pekida Malaysia.
