Sydney River, Nova Scotia

Sydney River (2001 pop.: 3,150) is a community in Nova Scotia's Cape Breton Regional Municipality.

The community is located at the southern end of Sydney Harbour's South Arm at the mouth of the Sydney River, from which it derives its name. Sydney River developed into a suburb of the nearby city of Sydney during the 1960s-1970s.

Located at the interchange between Highway 125 and Trunk 4, Sydney River has also seen commercial development in recent decades, with the construction of a shopping centre, stores, and restaurants.
