Talk:Sycamore Smith

[edit] Overhauling the article
The article could use some more work from someone more familiar with Smith:
- He has a reputation as an accomplished lyricist? With whom does he have that reputation? A citation is needed.
- He's been pegged as an atheist? Again, by who? A citation is needed.
- The description of Smith's music needs to be rephrased into clear, nonmetaphorical English. What is a "vaudevillian rural torpor" in less flowery language? What's "old-timey"? There is a lot of old times that had music; a more concrete era would be nice.
- He has a "derby hat, guitar, and kazoo". Why mention the guitar? It's hardly unusual for a musician to have a guitar. What's up with the derby hat and kazoo? Are they intentionally part of his image?

- Regarding the "derby hat, guitar, and kazoo" phrase, I'm in favor of keeping the word "guitar" intact. Despite the fact that a guitar may be the most ubiquitous instrument for a musician to tour with, dropping that one word alone would give the impression that this artist tours only with a derby hat and kazoo. And, since it IS probably noteworthy that this artist features a kazoo in his repertoire, it wouldn't be appropriate to simply cut out the entire phrase either. Perhaps a reworking of the information into the article is in order, as opposed to just removing the "guitar" reference.
