[edit] Highlander Wikiproject barnstar
Thanks for offering your help. I understand having questions, so I'll try to answer them to the best of my ability.
The closest thing to a Highlander logo is the Highlander text over a katana (see here Image:Highlander12.jpg). No set colors though the blue and white of scotland are the cloest appropriate I'd say or the Tartan of Clan MacLeod ( .png)
). As far as designs, we've got no clue to be honest. Looking for ideas from other Wikiprojects. The simpler the better really. And finally, Highlander is a franchise that started with a movie in the mid 80s and has encompassed 5 movies, 2 tv shows, a cartoon show, an anime move, and two comic book runs, along with numerous card games and such. I actually didn't do much for that article. I wrote the aftermath section and that's about it. I am one of the founding members of the hurricane project and have been quietly one its biggest contributors (not so much in recent months). Hurricanehink picked up where I left off and, as you can see by his accumulation of awards, has done a very good job. I think the biggest reward is the recogniton we've gotten as a group. I think it's great that you're eager to encourage Wikipedians by giving out awards and spreading Wikilove. However, I'm concerned that the original purpose of the Barnstar may be in danger. Generally they are given to people who have put in large amounts of work to make Wikipedia a valuable research tool. When some people get Barnstars for finding secret pages or signing guestbooks, it seems to me that this lowers the overall significance of the honor. (Imagine if someone got $100 every time he tied his shoes correctly.)
I know how exciting it is to get a Barnstar, and how nice it is to give them out – but remember that too much of a good thing lessens the joy of the experience for everyone. Just something to think about.. – Scartol • Tok 22:22, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
