[edit] Further Material

Some old books that may be of use in expanding this article, if anyone can get hold of them:

  • 'An Historic and Descriptive account of Swinsty Hall' by William Grainge (1857)
  • History & Topography of Little Timble, Great Timble & Snowden by William Grainge, Published 1895
  • 'The History and Topography of Harrogate, and the Forest of Knaresborough' by William Grainge, Published 1871, reprinted 1980
  • 'Timble Man Diaries of a Dalesman' Selected and edited by Ronald Harker. Published 1988, 1991. ISBN 0 86067 110 0. Apparently from diaries of local man John Dickinson, covering the period 1878 - 1912.

I got these references from here and here.

[edit] Construction Date

The Yorkshire Water site gives a construction date of 1876, but the 'Timble Man' diary is more detailed, and includes a reference to the work teams in at least 1878, so I am going with the dates from that as being more reliable. CiaranG 18:21, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Locomotive

The Little Ormes Head Quarry tramway page lists a locomotive built for the works here, but I don't have any further reference yet. CiaranG 17:24, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
