Switzerland has taken part only once in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 when an Italian song was sent to the competition. After a poor result the Swiss broadcaster decided not to compete in any further contests. There was also the fact that the Italian language broadcaster couldn't fund it alone, and both the German speaking and French speaking channels refused to take part.
