Swiss Locomotive and Machine Works (German Schweizerische Lokomotiv- und Maschinenfabrik or SLM) were a railway equipment manufacturer based in Winterthur in Switzerland. Much of the world's mountain railway equipment was constructed by them.

From 1992, SLM returned to producing steam locomotives designed around advanced steam technology principles. This part of the business was sold in 2000 to DLM AG.[1]

Since September 7, 2005, SLM has been owned by Stadler Rail.
