The Swiss Hotel Management School (SHMS) is Switzerland's largest English-speaking hotel management school. SHMS provides an international programme through a mixture of courses and practical internships. The school offers various programs other than the basic Bachelor's Degree(BA Hons) in International Hospitality Management, including Postgraduate, Master's and PhD programmes. The most common Bachelor's Degree programme includes the Swiss Higher Diploma and optionally the Diploma of the American Hotel and Lodging Association.
SHMS is 100% Swiss-owned and a member of the Swiss Hotel Schools Association (ASEH)[2] and the Swiss Education Group (SEG)[3].
[edit] Brief history
Switzerland's reputation in hotel management began more than 100 years ago when the first luxury hotels were built in Switzerland. The "Caux-Palace", was the largest exclusive establishment in its day. Today, the Caux-Palace is home of SHMS. Students from more than 60 different countries join the school every year to learn in a unique atmosphere, at the very source of Switzerland's hospitality reputation. In the real life environment of the Caux-Palace Hotel, there are many qualified hospitality experts that guide students through a balanced curriculum, comprising a wealth of practical elements, management expertise and languages.
As the number of students at SHMS increased over the last few decades, SHMS purchased a second campus in Leysin in 2003 and completely renovated it for instruction. The Leysin campus opened in September 2004 with state of the art learning and practical facilities and accommodation for over 600 students.
