[edit] AfD Nomination: Another Anime Convention
I've nominated the article Another Anime Convention for deletion under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Another Anime Convention satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion. I have explained why in the nomination space (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Another Anime Convention. Don't forget to add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of each of your comments to sign them. You are free to edit the content of Another Anime Convention during the discussion, but please do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top). Doing so will not end the discussion. - CobaltBlueTony 20:38, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] (From Talk:Another Anime Convention)
Why I think this article should not be deleted.
I believe AAC is a notable convention. It had 534 attendees in it's first year and will continue to grow. This article is to give people the history of AAC and information on the convention along with links to other such notable conventions. This is not a unworthy article and still has more to be added. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sweetheart143 (talk • contribs) 07:11, 14 October 2006.
- OK, a few points:
- Please sign your posts on talk pages with four tildes: ~~~~.
- The place to discuss whether this should be deleted is on the articles AfD page. I'll copy your comment this time, but please keep an eye on things there (and remember to keep your cool).
- It may be an idea to read up on some of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines if you think you have a valid argument for keeping the argument. In particular, check out Wikipedia:Verifiability, Wikipedia:Reliable sources and Wikipedia:Notability. As a rule, most Wikipedians don't like articles where the only source of information is the (in this case) convention's own home page, or forum postings. A couple of significant newspaper mentions would be really helpful.
- Given how young the convention is, you'll probably also want to check out WP:NOT#Wikipedia is not a crystal ball - as I see it the article is likely to be deleted because even though the convention may show promise we can't keep an article on that promise alone, but if it gets some more attention in later years then an article on it is welcome.
- Finally, whether the article is kept, or recreated later, I'd like you to look at the Manual of Style, in particular the section titled "Usage and spelling" which partially explains why the article needs to be written in a neutral tone, in the third person (i.e. you can't use "I", "we" or "us").
- Good luck with the 2007 convention, though, I know what it's like being involved in things like this. And when AAC is definitely notable enough for an article, I and many others will do our best to help you make it a good article. Confusing Manifestation 03:39, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Another Anime Convention
Apparently I have recreated the once deleted Another Anime Convention article. If you have anything to add to our discussion or some extra sources, we'd be happy for your help. Kopf1988 04:48, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
