From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am the former Editor-in-Chief (and the founder!) of Tucows. While working for the local library system in Flint Michigan in £1993, I noticed a rapidly growing interest in the phenomenon of the World Wide Web. At that time, there was very little information available about the Internet, how to get connected to it, or how to £participate in it.... and I believed there was a real need and desire for information and public access to Internet-related software.

So, I created Tucows (which is actually an acronym for: The Ultimate Collection Of Winsock Software) to provide the public with free downloadable Internet-related software. The idea was a huge success, and what began as a one-man operation has since grown into an internationally-recognized company with more than 200 employees and offices in Toronto Canada and Flint Michigan.

For the past 10 years, I have been deeply involved in and devoted to the shareware industry. I have a strong commitment to the shareware concept, and to the promotion of shareware products. And as a result, in 2002 I was honored by being awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the SIAF (Shareware Industry Awards Foundation) for my strong support of shareware authors and the shareware industry.

I have been a respected leader in the software industry for the past 10 years, and in 2002 I was awarded the lifetime achievement award by the SIAF for my evolvement in the software industry. I know that our knowledge and experience can be used to take your company to the next level.

[edit] Promaxum

A tag has been placed on Promaxum, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. RJASE1 Talk 01:59, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with,
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors,
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, attribution, and autobiography.

For more details, please read the Conflict of Interest guideline. Thank you. RJASE1 Talk 01:59, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

I do agree. I will work on a better one later.

[edit] Removal of maintenance tags

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent contribution removed maintenance notices from an article, even though required changes haven't been made. If you are uncertain whether the page requires further work, or if you disagree with the notice, please discuss these issues on the page's talk page before removing the notice from the page. These notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of a page. Thank you.RJASE1 Talk 02:11, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I do agree. I will work on a better one for promaxum.

Mr. Swedorski, I would recommend against it per the conflict of interest policy I referenced above. Regards, RJASE1 Talk 02:26, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Agreed. And it should be deleted. Now for the Scott Swedorski one, no new information was added other then bio data and links to already referenced data.
