The Swedish Road Administration, (Swedish: Vägverket), is a government agency in Sweden. Its primary responsibility is to build and maintain the road network in Sweden, but also includes the vehicle register and issuing of drivers' licenses^[1]. Its headquarters are located in Borlänge, Sweden The Riksdag and the Government of Sweden decide what direction the work of the Swedish National Road Administration is to have.

Sweden claims to one of the most well-maintained road systems in the world^[2].

The National Road Administration (Vägverket) was founded in 1841 as The Royal Board for Public Road and Water Structures (Kongliga styrelsen för allmänna wäg- och wattenbyggnader) and was responsible for Swedens canals and roads.
