Sweden held the national preselection Melodifestivalen 1990 to choose an entry for the 35th Eurovision Song Contest. Among the competors was Carola Häggkvist, the 1983 representant, and Loa Falkman with a song that finished last, but later was voted one of the best Melodifestivalen songs ever. Winner was, however, the group Edin-Ådahl, consisiting of two pairs of brothers. Their song was written by Mikael Wendt and named Som en vind (Like a wind).
It was drawn to be performed as number 18 at the grand European final. Sweden did not receive more than 24 points in the voting, thus finishing 16th out of 22. It was one of their lowest placings ever.
