[edit] Linkspam
I thought I would drop you a note to let you know what I meant by "linkspam cleanup". The link I removed was probably best suited to the Brittany page, but the user in question was posting the same link to lots of articles where it was not relevant. He was almost certainly doing this because search engines like Google rank sites higher when they are linked to by popular sites like Wikipedia. You can see the details of his spam run here Special:Contributions/83.195.40.211. You can read more about the Wikipedia spam problem at WP:SPAM.
When an anonymous IP goes around posting the same link to multiple articles it is usually (though not always) an attempt to boost their search engine rankings. That said, a good set of external links often add value to an article and you shouldn't be afraid of adding links you think are worthy.
Feel free to leave me another message if you have further questions. --GraemeL (talk) 23:22, 25 September 2005 (UTC)
