After using Wiki as a reference source for some time, I happened upon the page dedicated to Herbert Dingle. I was horrified to see that the page and its links were being used to misrepresent him as a crackpot. It was also full of factual errors. There was an invitation on the page saying it was just a stub, and I could help wiki by adding to the page. Having some knowledge of Dingle, I proceeded to make some corrections, only to find the following day that everything had been changed back. One look at the discussion page shows that this page is being used as a battleground by pro-relativity fanatics and those who think Dingle had a point. Unfortunately the fanatics are in control and have locked the page. As a result the page is a disgrace to Wikipedia, and hardly a fitting tribute to a distinguished scientist who had the nerve to point out an obvious inconsistency in Einstein's 1905 paper on relativity. He was well qualified to speak on Relativity, having written a couple of textbooks on it, written the Relativity section in the Encyclopedia Britannica, and discussed it personally with several phycicists of the day, including Einstein himself, and he was the person chosen by BBC to give the eulogy to Einstein, when he died in 1955. So, he was clearly prominent in the field of relativity theory. When someone of his stature says he has noticed an inconsistency in the theory, it would seem sensible to sit up and take notice. Unfortunately, this did not happen, and he suffered the fate of all whistleblowers. To this day he is vilified by many pimply undergraduates, who have read a couple of physics textbooks and think they understand relativity.

So, at the moment, I am unashamedly what is derisively referred to on the wiki as a single purpose user, or something, I cant remember the exact wording. My only editting interest at the moment is to try and get a fitting page for Prof Herbert Dingle.
