[edit] Synopsis
Kamal Haasan plays the role of an autistic person and all he is good at is obeying what his trusted grandmother says. In an attempt to do good to the life of a widow (with a 5-year old son), he marries her during an auspicious village festival much to the shock of villagers who in turn try to harm Kamal as this act of his stands against the traditional societal norms. The widow who is now married (played by Raadhika) tries to save her husband (Kamal) and moves to city for a better living. With an able support from few of their fellow villagers settled in the city and from Raadhika's erstwhile music guru, the family settles down and life for them from then on looks good and promising.
Director takes the course of this story in a very touching and matured way. He takes every care not to over indulge in any of the human emotions and feelings and at the same time puts in everything that is needed for the story's success. Each and every sequence is a very fine mix of human emotion with a touch of humor. And to do that is by no means an easy task. Be it the gestures of Kamal Haasan or his innocent sequences with other support actors all collectively fill every audience with a sense of awe and admiration for both the actor and the director.
The movie is remembered more often for some stellar performances from male and female protagonists i.e., Kamal Haasan & Raadhika and also for the great work done by the director K.Vishwanath (famously called as Kalatapisvi Vishwanath). Other actors in their respective roles lend their hand quite efficiently in making this movie a success.
Music for the movie is another great asset. Vishwanath is always known to Telugu film industry as a music(classical) loving director and this movie was no different. The legendary music director Ilaiyaraaja ,as always, rose to the occasion and provided extra-ordinary music.
