Swapnil Asnodkar

Swapnil Asnodkar is an Indian first class cricketer. He is a right handed opening batsman with a relitivly short stature of around 5'5. He can be incredibly dangerous to opposition bowlers; he has been able to hit top class seam bowlers such as Glenn McGrath for six with little difficulty. He is able to play more short pitch deliveries on the back foot; these same deliveries may trouble a taller batsman; to full for a backfoot, too short for a front foot. Asnodkar currently plays for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.

He formed a strong opening partenership with South African captain Graeme Smith, by the end of the tournament they had scored 418 runs together at an average of 59.71 - the highest of the tournament. In the seven IPL matches he has played, Asnodkar has scored 244 runs at 34.86 with a strike rate of 127.08. On his IPL debut against Kolkata Knight Riders, he scored a total of 60 runs from 34 balls. his innings included 10 fours and one six with a strike rate 176.47. Asnodkar bowls right-arm offbreaks. He has been called up to an Indian emerging players tour to Israel in July.

He is the first cricketer from the state of Goa to have made an impact since Dilip Sardesai who played 30 tests for India in the 1960s and '70s.
