Swang is the debut single from Trae's album Restless. The song heavily resembles LL Cool J's guitar pattern from his 1995 single "Hey Lover". It features Big Hawk & Fat Pat. However, in the music video only Trae and Hawk were in it, due to Fat Pat's death. This video was shot before Big Hawk died. Paul Wall and Lil Keke made a cameo appearance in the video.
The song's title is a reference to car rims known as swangas (also spelled swangers), not to mention driving a slab (in the Houston hip-hop scene, a slab is an acronym for 'slow, loud and bangin) slowly up and down the street with loud music.
The album version has a sample of Michael Jackson's "The Lady in My Life" from his multiplatinum album Thriller. The chorus is a sample of DJ DMD's "25 Lighters."
