Swanbank is a suburb of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. The predominant land usage in Swanbank is industrial. The origin of the suburb name is supposedly from a place in Scotland called Swanbank. [1] It is named after the birthplace of the wife of an early property owner by the name of James Foote. Strangely enough there is no trace of there ever being a place in Scotland called Swanbank. [2] Previous names for this area were Logan Lagoon and Josey's Lagoon.
The Swanbank power station is a power station located in Swanbank. Swanbank also has a railway station which is used for heritage purposes. Further industrial development will occur when a paper mill is constructed in Swanbank. [3]
