Swami Sivananda, born in the village Choti Khatu, district Nagaur (Rajasthan), whose original name was Savai Singh, was the son of a Rajastani nobleman (Thakur Sri Balvant Singhji Jodha Rajput). He was initiated into the Sannyasa order by Sri Deep Narayan Mahaprabhuji.
Swami Sivananda is well known in India and throughout the world for his bhajans (devotional hymns), a selection of which have been collected and published in the book Sri Sivananda Vani Prakash.
His birth and death dates are not known.
