Swami Sarvanand Giri Institute (also known as SSGPURC, Hoshiarpur) is a Regional Centre affiliated to Punjab University(P.U), Chandigarh. Panjab University is one of the oldest Universities of the Country, having glorious history of 125 years of providing quality training and research work in diverse areas such as Arts, Science, Technology and Medicines. The University expanded it’s activities in the technical education in 2002 establishing in campus technical institution U.I.E.T venturing into the engineering area that addresses the current requirements of the industry and research. In order to expand the quality technical education Panjab University has started a Regional Centre at Hoshiarpur, with a motive to provide quality education to young generation of Punjab. The present campus was taken over by Panjab University in the year 2006 and so started BE courses with effect from the session 2006-07.

Dr Lajpat Rai Munger a citizen of United States of America originally belongs to Village Nagal Sadhian Hoshiarpur (Pb). Dr. Munger adopted Swami Sarvanand Gir Maharaj as his Guru. He bought 10.5 Acers of property in the name of his Guruji in village Bajwara on Una Road, 5 km from the court of Hoshiarpur and constructed the building of the campus. As growing old he thought it would be wise to hand over this institute to Panjab University. In February 2006, The present campus was taken over by Panjab University, as Regional Centre.

Rumours are spread around that Mr. Lajpat Rai tried to took affiliation for this college from punjab university but punjab university do not gave the affiliation(Money Matters) so he donated the whole college to punjab university and university made its regional centre for engineering & post graduate courses.

Admission is strictly on the basis of AIEEE. Candidate has to apply for JAC. The candidates having compartment in 10+2 examination held in the current year will not be eligible for admission in any course. The candidates who do not appear in AIEEE or do not qualify AIEEE, shall not be considered for admission. MCA & LLB admissions are through the PU OCET test's merits.
