[edit] The Annual Draisine Race

Between 1880 and 1903 an annual draisine race was arranged by the local people on the sidings at the station, to raise money for the RNLI. After an accident in the 1903 race, the tradition was discontinued. The "Swaffham Races" still refers, locally to a pointless, but well-meaning exercise.
