[edit] About Svilena
Svilena Kidess was born in Bulgaria on May 26, 1978 as Svilena Iassenova Ratcheva. She began taking acting classes at the age of seven. During Junior High she studied art. Svilena moved to Sofia, Bulgaria's capitol city, when she was thirteen. There, while attending High School she shot TV commercials and modeled.
At the age of sixteen, she was selected to be one of the lead girls for the TV show Supershow Nevada, the first game show in Bulgarian Television History. After a few years on Supershow Nevada, Svilena joined the new TV network (Nova Televizia). There she learned the ins and outs of production and did a stint as a journalist. Not long after, she returned to TV. She starred in Come on Cook For Me!, a culinary/comedy show. Svilena was also a host for the network's Morning Show. The show was aired live, three hours a day and Svilena was the show's host on alternative days. The show was so successful, it spawned the creation of a new channel (Channel 3). Svilena helped creating the programing for the new TV channel and continued her responsibilities as host on the Morning Show. She also appeared on Gozba, a comedy/culinary show which she created, wrote for, acted on and hosted.
Having appeared in commercials in the past Svilena was chosen to be the lead in a major ad campaign for Proctor & Gamble. While shooting in Czech Republic, Svilena fell in love with the ad campaign's director, Andreas Kidess. The two were married in Germany in December of 1998 and a month later Svilena joined her husband in the United States. Currently residing in Los Angeles, Svilena was granted an O-1 visa because of her skills as an actor. Since then she has starred in a number of independent movies and national commercials. Still in demand in Europe, she has been flown back to work in movies, commercials and music videos.
