Talk:Svensk

[edit] No redirect

This term should not redirect because English speakers who don't know Swedish would be mystified by a redirect. I've changed this page so that it explains what the term is and links to Swedish. (I only mentioned the Swedish language, but this word means Swedish in Norwegian and Danish as well, so I will change the page to include them. Are there any other languages that should be mentioned?) --Tkynerd 20:44, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

There is never going to be enough material to make an article at Svensk. Th eonly meaning it has is "Swedish"; if that is considered important, then it should be mentioned at Swedish. There is not enough to say to warrant keeping this page separate. Please do not undo the redirection of Svensk to Swedish again. The argument that "English speakers won't understand it" should also be dealt with there not here. Altering the intro to "Swedish (Swedish: Svensk)…" or something similar. A comparison with Dansk and Norsk will indicate that redirection is the norm in such cases. --Stemonitis 20:06, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
There is never going to be enough material to make an article at Svensk. Sounds like a good rationale for deletion to me. I don't really see the point in having non-English words that aren't regularly used in English (unlike, say, Götterdämmerung) on Wikipedia anyway.
The argument that "English speakers won't understand it" should also be dealt with there not here. The fact that "svensk" means "Swedish" is even more out of place at Swedish than this article is on Wikipedia. Thank you for clarifying this for me; I will proceed with an AfD. --Tkynerd 00:06, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
I have now submitted the redirect for RfD. The discussion is here (and should be kept there, not here). --Tkynerd 02:03, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
