I have been philosophicing about "Svenne" recently. I think it may be related to the old Swedish word for a male virgin which is "Svenne" (or Svendom).

[edit] Move to Wiktionary

I transwiki'd this article to Wiktionary and replaced the current version with a soft-redirect. SchmuckyTheCat reverted that edit with the comment rv, this is not a dict-def (dict defs don't discuss sociology)

I've read and now re-read the article. The contents of this article are a detailed discussion of the meanings, origins and usage of a word. It includes pronunciation and related words. Those are components of a dictionary definition. It is not the content that I would expect to see in a truly great, unabridged encyclopedia. It is, however, the content that I would expect to see in a truly great, unabridged dictionary. I believe that the content belongs in Wiktionary, not in Wikipedia because Wikipedia is not a dictionary has been established policy since long before I joined the project.

I have to admit that I don't see any discussion of sociology in this current article. I see a detailed definition including connotations of usage.

I see no possibility that this article can be expanded past a dictionary definition and into an encyclopedia article. I would be happy to be proven wrong, though. If you can show me what in this article is more than a discussion of the meanings, origins and/or usage of the word or if you can expand the article past that state, I will withdraw my objections. I've made a comment about the other Swedish ethnic slur blatte at talk:blatte. This is not a reasonable article to keep in an English-language dictionary. For further discussion see Wikipedia talk:Centralized discussion/Dictionary definitions.
And frankly, even if someone did start adding proper sociological material, I wouldn't never accept this as a valid entry, since it's about a foreign word that is never user in any type of English contexts. Only extremely notable and important ethnic slurs and slang like nigger deserve their own article.

Exactly why it's not an article about the word, it's an article about an element of swedish (or whatever culture) this word comes from. So what do you name a cultural occurrence in a different culture if it has no direct english meaning? Use the foreign word. We describe things here in the english language, that doesn't mean we only describe things that have an english name. SchmuckyTheCat 17:01, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
