Sveti Jurij ob Ščavnici is a town and a municipality in Slovenia. Traditionally, it is part of Lower Styria and part of the region called Prlekija. It is known for being the birthplace of several prominent Slovenes, including the politician Anton Korošec, poet Edvard Kocbek, theologian Vekoslav Grmič, playwright Bratko Kreft, literary critic Fran Ilešič, and ethnologist Davorin Trstenjak.
