Sverre Walter Rostoft

Sverre Walter Rostoft (born 12 December 1912 in Glemmen, died 26 April 2001) was a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party.

He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Vest-Agder in 1954, lost his seat in 1958 but was later re-elected in 1965. In 1965, however, he was appointed Minister of Industry during the centre-right cabinet Borten. He held the position until the Borten cabinet fell in 1971, and thus his seat in parliament was taken by Kolbjørn Stordrange the entire term.

On the local level Rostoft was a member of Oddernes municipality council during the term 1951–1955.

Outside of politics, Rostoft graduated with the cand.jur. degree in 1947. He was CEO of Kristiansands Mekaniske Verksted from 1945 to 1979. He became a member of the board of Mekaniske Verksteders Landsforening (a precursor to the Federation of Norwegian Industries) in 1949 and Norges Industriforbund (a precursor to the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise) in 1957, and served as president from 1962 to 1965.
