Sverre Anker Ousdal

Sverre Anker Ousdal (born 18 July 1944) is a leading Norwegian actor born in Flekkefjord. His debut was in 1965 at Den Nationale Scene in Bergen. He was at the Oslo Nye Teater in the period 1967 to 1970, and at the Nationaltheatret from 1970.

Ousdal has had major roles in several TV-series like Grenseland (1980), Blodsbånd (1998, was awarded an Amanda), Familjen (Swedish) and Deadline Torp (2005). He received the Amanda award in 1990 for the major role in the NRK play Kreditorer. In 1997 he was made a Knight First Class of the the Royal Order of St. Olav for his accomplishments as an actor.

Ousdal has had a number of major roles in Norwegian and Swedish films, including Orion's belt (1985), Falsk som vatten (1985), Etter Rubicon (1987), Insomnia. He has also appeared in US movies like The Island at the Top of the World (1974) and several British productions, most notably the much praised mini-series The Last Place on Earth, where he starred as polar explorer Roald Amundsen.
