[edit] Discussion

Troy Donahue is not deceased.

Died of a heart attack in 2001. PacificBoy 05:11, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

I seem to recall that Pleshette also starred with James Garner in Support Your Local Sheriff"....??

No, that was Joan Hackett. --Michael K. Smith 15:59, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Was she a smoker?

Was she a smoker? (She had a trademark husky voice [1]and died of lung cancer, so that's why I'm wondering...) 24.6.66.193 (talk) 07:36, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

According to this article in USA Today from September 2007 she was. --Crunch (talk) 12:03, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Of course she was a smoker. Hollywood glamorizes smoking, just as it glamorizes alcohol, drugs, single parenthood, and homosexuality, all detrimental forms of behavior. But people have to learn for themselves.Lestrade (talk) 21:10, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Lestrade

Wow. It never ceases to amaze me how certain people can use any statement or question as a prompt to spread their political agendas. Very impressive. You must be a thrill at dinner parties. ChrisStansfield Contribs 03:45, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

No politics were involved in my statement about Hollywood. I believe it to be simple truth. Suzanne P. didn't get that voice from eating peppermints. Your comment about dinner parties is obscure.Lestrade (talk) 11:10, 21 January 2008 (UTC)Lestrade

"Obscure"? What's obscure is Lestrade's reference to "glamour", "single parenthood", and "homosexuality". Where did that come from? I never mentioned any of those things in my original question. 24.6.66.193 (talk) 20:59, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Y'know, I thought about removing Lestrade's sad, delusional comments. But then I thought -- why? Surely anyone with a clear mind will see his political agenda. And those who think he hasn't got one? Well, they'll just have to learn for themselves. (See? He's right about one thing!) 172.134.237.135 (talk) 18:57, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Origin of surname

What was the national origin of her surname (i.e., from which nation did her father or his ancestors emigrate)? Badagnani (talk) 10:12, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

According to the 1920 census, both of her father's parents were from Russia. I know her last name sounds French, but there are some Jewish names that sound French (like this one, or Efron), just as there are some French names that may sound Jewish. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 12:13, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

There are no "Jewish" names. Pleshette sounds French because her father's family may have been French Jews.ArlyneB (talk) 03:46, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Right, right, I'm sure Levy and Cohen are not Jewish names. May want to check out Category:Jewish surnames or Jewish_name#Surname. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 05:20, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

The surname is actually a made up name, the original name was Palestine and the family were Russian Jews, but they changed the name to Pleshette because I think they moved away from Russia but not entirely sure.

There's a family tree [2]. Her paternal grandfather, Max Pleshet, was born in Russia. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 18:49, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Cause of death

The article and the press are reporting respiratory failure as her cause of death, but that isn't really a COD. It's a mode of dying. The article will need better information when the death certificate is available.66.30.203.39 (talk) 17:19, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] TV Credits

I seem to remember her being the star of a drama series as the head nurse of a nursing school. 70.162.27.65 (talk) 20:28, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Nightingales. It used to be mentioned in the article. I remember it mostly because the student nurses were babes. TJRC (talk) 21:19, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
