Suzie Plakson (born June 3, 1958) is an American actress, singer, and artist.
Born Susan Plaksin in Buffalo, New York, she grew up in Kingston, Pennsylvania and went to college at in Northwestern University.[1] She acted in theater for several years, and achieved a breakaway role opposite Anthony Newley in "Stop the World, I Want to Get Off". She also notably played Marquise Theresa Du Parc in the Broadway paly La Bête in 1991.[1]
Plakson has played a wide range of characters throughout her career.[2] As an actress she is noted for her height, standing at 6 ft 1½ in (187 cm). Her first regular role in a television series was to costar as Meg Tynan in the sitcom Love & War in 1992, although she had previously played a voice role on Dinosaurs and had a semi-regular role as a Klingon in Star Trek: The Next Generation.[1][3] This role was an inspiration for subsequent female Klingon performers, such as Roxann Dawson.[4] Plakson would go on to play 4 different characters of four different alien species in the Star Trek series, and has had an action figure made in the likeness of her Klingon character.[1] Plakson's-longest lasting role was in Mad About You, where she played a gay gynecologist.[2] She has played roles in numerous other television shows, and has also acted in movies such as Bingo, Disclosure, Red Eye, and Wag the Dog.[3]
As a singer, Plakson released the country album "Good Luck Charm" produced by Jay Ferguson, and has performed other songs available for download on her website.[2] She also sculpts using Polymer clay, and writes fiction, non-fiction, and poetry.[2]
