Suwa Taisha (諏訪大社?), or Suwa Grand Shrine, is over 1200 years old. It is one of the oldest shrines of the Shinto religion of Japan. It is mentioned in the Kojiki. It consists of four shrine building complexes, the Kamisha, or upper shrine, Shimosha, or lower shrine, Harumiya, or spring shrine, and Akimiya, or autumn shrine.
Suwa Taisha's component shrines are located in Suwa, Nagano and Shimosuwa, Nagano, next to Lake Suwa in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. Suwa Taisha is the focus of the famous Onbashira festival, held every six years.
