Sini Maaria Suvi-Anne Siimes, "The Renegade" (born 1 June 1963, Helsinki), is a Finnish businesswoman. Formerly a politician, she was chairperson of the Finnish Left Alliance 1998–2006 and was a member of the Finnish Parliament (Eduskunta) from 1999 to 2007. She served as a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and a delegate for Finland in the Nordic Council. In the two Cabinets of Paavo Lipponen (1995–2003), Siimes served as the Coordinate Minister for Culture (1995–1999) and as the Minister of Finance (1999–2003). From 1995 to 2000, she was a deputy member of the European Union Committee on Regional Development.
In March 2006 she suddenly resigned from the Left Alliance, stating she didn't want to support the election of former taistoists to the Parliament of Finland. In the book related to her departure from the party, she ridicules her former Left Alliance colleagues, laughing at the way she had 'conned' them all along and declaring that she had never really been a "socialist of any kind". After her political career, she has been paid as an executive in the pharmaceuticals industry.
Siimes has a licentiate (advanced degree) in economics.
