[edit] Gaeilge anyone?

Is there anybody who knows the Irish name of this town? --Pationl 04:40, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC)

It's Cill Fhionntáin - Fintans' cell (a religious hermits' home).

note: Image:Sutton.jpg|thumb|200px|right|Looking north from Sutton towards Ireland's Eye was removed and deleted in December 2005 for lack of source citation. But the Image tag remained up until now. The current photo named Sutton.jpg from the FBI is not relevant to this article. Please select a different name for any new photo matching this caption here. I have left the caption alone, as previously existing, for the value of its descripion.Steven Russell 05:55, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] portmarnock?

there's no relevance to linking the portmarnock sub-aqua club here. it's already on the portmarnock page, so i'm removing it here. JXM 18:31, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] St. Fintan's High School

I'd just like to point out that St Fintan's High School is in the parish of Baldoyle. Maybe that should be noted with it even if the address says Sutton. Gibsoninside 18:56, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Interesting point. You mean the Catholic parish? In terms of civic location, while we are not crediting sometimes absurd attempts to bring "Sutton" into Kilbarrack / Bayside, it has for centuries extended to the Baldoyle Road / Coast Road junction, and so does include the High School. [edit] Photo

I added this photo from Commons and it states it was taken at Sutton Beach; I wonder?? Sun indicates we are looking at Howth Head from the southwest across the bay; this seems more likely Sandymount Strand. Sarah777 (talk) 16:57, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

No, it's correctly labelled. It is taken from the Burrow Beach (a.k.a. the Hole-in-the-Wall Beach) on the north side of Sutton, looking north towards Lambay, with the edge of Ireland's Eye just visible at the extreme right of the photo. Lambay profile is similar to Howth Head OK, but not quite the same! Snalwibma (talk) 20:03, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for that! At least I got the direction of the sunlight right :) Sarah777 (talk) 08:10, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Merge proposal

Merge content from Greenfield Road and make Greenfield Road a redirect to Sutton, Dublin? Yes of course. Just do it. SNALWIBMA ( talk - contribs ) 11:06, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Good move! I reckon "snalwibma" is an anagram or something; else your parents had a wicked sense of humour :) Sarah777 (talk) 23:47, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
