Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Administrators

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a list of procedures for the page Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets for administrators.

I. View the case, and review carefully. Blocking a "sockpuppet" who is really not a sockpuppet is unfair to the person you have just blocked. The sock puppet policy requires firm technical evidence or similar before blocking a sockpuppet; see Identification and handling of suspected sock puppets.
II. Block the sockpuppet, with a summary of "sockpuppet" or similar.
III. Tag the user page of the sockpuppet you have just blocked with {{sockpuppet|MASTERSOCKPUPPET|confirmed}}
IV. If you feel the need to block the sock puppet master temporarily, you can tag the user talk page with {{SockmasterProven|evidence=EVIDENCE LINK|period=PERIOD}}, where EVIDENCE LINK is the link to the evidence page (most likely the suspected sock puppet page) and PERIOD is the duration of the block. Otherwise, you can use the {{sockpuppeteer}} template with the appropriate variables. See its documentation.
V. Start the bot's archiving process by adding {{SSPa}} to the top of the sockpuppetteer's subpage and click save. This template does not need to be substituted. Please make sure at the bottom of the page there is a </div> tag; if there is not, add it in at the bottom of the page.
VI. The archival bot, EBot2, will automatically check the page every 5 minutes and archive them (remove from main page and add them to the archive) once it has seen the template added on the page by the administrator. There is no more you have to do about this request.
