Susumu Terajima

Susumu Terajima (寺島 進 Terajima Susumu?) (born 12 November 1963) is a Japanese actor who has appeared in over 100 films, 15 CMs (television commercials), three PVs (promotional videos), and numerous television dramas. He is part of Office Kitano, the production company of actor / director / comedian Takeshi Kitano.

Terajima was born in Tokyo, Japan, where he still resides. He made his acting debut in 1986's A-Homance, and has been steadily furthering his career ever since.

Terajima is best known for his portrayal of yakuza figures, most notably in the films of colleague and close friend Kitano.

  • Terajima has made appearances in several Japanese music videos (PVs), including SMAP's "FLY," AKTION'S "Still Neva Enuff," and Izumi Sakaki's "Family Tree."
  • Terajima's character in 2005's Kirin Fire canned coffee CMs, along with that of co-star Tadanobu Asano, were featured in the film Naisu no mori: The First Contact.
  • Since May 2006 Terajima has been writing a weekly advice column for Japan's CinemaToday website. His section of the CinemaToday website also lists up-to-date news on his recent activities.
