Is this another word for Layoff, Downsizing or Reduction In Force? I'm not certain the current phrase makes sense. I am editing it, my appoligies if I've misunderstood the usage.

- could people who have survived plane crashes or boat sinkings etc develop this syndrome? And what about those with extreme phobias who then face them, is it possible for them to develop something akin to this? I thought perhaps PDSD but it's not quite that. More info would be greatly appreciated.

This is not a term used nowadays and is one of the many desciptive terms now covered by PTSD. Survivor guilt was a key symptom in the original diagnosis of PTSD in DSM III. +++Don't Merge+++ The fact that survivors syndrome is closely related to the historical period of post-world war 2 is the fact that it should not be merged. Survivors guilt mostly relates 2 anything that was survived.
