Talk:Surrural

I think the term is a useful combination of words that can be employed to offer descriptive precision across disciplines. D3gourds (talk) 18:49, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
I've added a few reference links. Not sure if that will change anything. If not, is the definition appropriate for Copy to Wiktionary? D3gourds (talk) 19:12, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi. I'm not sure about Wiktionary. They have their own policies & requirements. In terms of the sources you've added, the first two do firmly establish that Waits has used the term. Well, let me qualify that: the first one is not a reliable source in itself, since it is presumably not authorized to reproduce the interview and since its basically quoting another source, but it does give a location for the source, and the second website seems to confirm it. The third website confirms that it's used by one other group. The last two may not be much help. Ideally, Wikipedia would like sources actually discussing the term to help demonstrate that it has caught on well enough to be notable.
- With regards to Wiktionary, they do seem to have a more relaxed approach to neologism than Wikipedia, as suggested by their policy on them. We could try tagging the article for transwiki and see if it is acceptable. You could also put this information into the Tom Waits article, as he seems to have talked most about the term, and create a redirect here. Would one those approaches suit you? --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:46, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
I think tagging it for wiktionary is probably best. Thanks for all your help. D3gourds (talk) 00:11, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'm happy if I'm able to. :) I'll tag it for transwiki, and we'll see where it goes from there. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 00:12, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
thanks again. by the way, I can't seem to find the answer to this question anywere...is there a way to request the creation of a wikipedia page? it seems to me that people who tape live music (i.e., "tapers") are a big enough group to warrant some consideration. D3gourds (talk) 22:38, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, certainly. :) You can request it at requested articles or you can propose it at a related Wikipedia:WikiProject. I'm not really sure which would be the best wikiproject for that. There are a couple that deal with music, here. It might be an offshoot of Bootleg recording, but I wouldn't ask there, as that talk page doesn't look very active. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 00:33, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
You're the best...thanks again! D3gourds (talk) 00:37, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
