[edit] Deletion
I'm going to need to review the rules for university sports teams but I don't think this is worthy of a page on wikipedia.Simondrake 01:07, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
There is an entire project about getting university American Football team pages created and improved, so why does this page, above all others, deserve to be deleted?Jskivington 17:32, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
There are thousands of people guilty of crimes in the world, if one is arrested and then asks the police officer why he, above all others, deserves to be arrested it is unlikely that the police officer will release him. If that happened then no one would ever be punished for any crime because every criminal would say: "But someone else is breaking the law right now..."
The same is true in this case. Just because there are other pages about sports teams doesn't mean there SHOULD be a page about THIS sports team. This team is not noteable. Just because it's part of a group of teams that may or may not be noteable as a whole does not mean it is noteable. Tescos is noteable, the branch of Tescos in Guildford is probably not noteable. Making a page listing all the celebrities who have ever been seen in the Guildford branch of Tescos with the store's yearly earnings and a list of the times it's been robbed is a farce. It may be part of a noteable group but it itself is not noteable no matter how much content is found for it. The only way Guildford Tescos could become noteable enough to deserve a wikipedia article is if some major event happened like Tony Blair getting shot in the car park and even then the page would be little more than link to the page about the incident. I'm going to say it one more time, Surrey Stingers is not noteable and should not have a wikipedia page about it.Simondrake 20:14, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
- Lets' keep the discussion to the AfD page. Seems as though you're the only one in support of deletion thus far. Masonpatriot 21:00, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Deletion, round 2.
This article continues to breach wikipedia's many many rules. First and foremost is the lack of notability.
Remember, notability is not inherited, the sport may be notable but this team isn't.193.128.87.36 14:41, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Surrey.gif
Image:Surrey.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
