Talk:Surge (soft drink)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Why would you pay that much for expired surge, when you could conceivably purchase it in Norway? (and have it exported) [[User:Rhymeless|Rhymeless | (Methyl Remiss)]] 06:46, 20 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Surge does not taste the same as urge, simple as that.

[edit] NPOV?
"The beginning of 2005 brought an exciting campaign to bring SURGE back to the store shelves of Wal-Mart."
Surely the excitingness of such a campaign is for the reader to decide. Also the proximity of the words "brought" and "bring" is a little uncomfortable. I'm going to change it. TheJames 20:56, 13 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Not in USA?
That's strange because the Chuck E. Cheese's down the street has it... -Fetology 16:53, Jun 6, 2005 (UTC)

Drikk Urge? Psh. REMOVED! Amerika 03:05, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC) Ha! I should read. In the future, totally and completley disregard me. I'm adding a caption letting people like me know that's the Norwegian label, though. Amerika 03:07, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Availability
An anon(with an ip from the US) changed this to say that you can buy this in Sweden and Denmark. I am pretty sure you can't, I have looked for it there when I've been there with no luck finding it, here(in Norway) it can be found everywhere. I am changing it back. Fuelbottle | Talk 08:37, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
There is something seriously wrong with this page, Surge and Urge are NOT the same drinks. Urge has a different taste. I live in Norway, and travelled to the US in 96 or so. I picked up some surge, definetly not the same soda. Someone ought to clean up the page. Urge's taste is definetly a lot better than surge, which is the reason it is still being sold here in Norway. I am not well enough versed in Wikipedia redirects and procedures, but the way I think it should be done is this: main page urge, list surge as a failed variation. Urge was the original releasename, and is the only one it is still sold as. Using surge as main article makes no sense. It should be noted that my pov is that surge tastes like piss compared to urge, and this is also the reason it failed in the US etc. Seing how the drink is still marketed as urge a lot of the first paragraph is very misleading. I have a few bottles of urge on my desk, one I bought today and it has the original logo. See http://www.cocacola.no/page3-0.jsp for information from the producers themselves. It should be noted that the colors are slightly off, a real bottle has a lot less intense coloration, both of the soda and logo in general. This is most likely an artifact of image processing. The same effect can be seen on the fanta page, where the bottles have unnatural colors.
[edit] Almost 50%?
Why not just say 45% more, or, contains 145%. Almost 50% more, where almost 50% more is a known quantity, that quantity being 45% is as overstated as this conversation point. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.84.98.108 (talk • contribs)

I have removed this image beause it is useless because it is horribly pixelated. Kilo-Lima|(talk) 20:32, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

"An title cannot redirect somewhere when it is already on that title"
Sorry, I don't understand what you mean. What's wrong with having "Surge redirects here?" I put that there so people would know that "Surge" would redirect to that page. Intelliguy 23:43, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Urban legend
Any info on the urban myth that, because it contains "Yellow #5" (I believe that was the one), Surge will shrink your balls? I remember that was a pretty widespread myth back in the day, and while I always figured it was bogus, I'm curious. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.177.39.250 (talk) 03:00, August 25, 2007 (UTC)
- No basis in fact. SchuminWeb (Talk) 03:34, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
I also recall that rumor going around, was there any link to slipping sales due to this rumor? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.130.148.22 (talk) 00:15, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- Definately. But in the version I heard, it was your penis that shrinked. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.107.39.149 (talk) 14:53, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Default link
Should "Surge" link directly here? Nowadays, people (at least Americans) searching for "surge" are more likely thinking of the Iraq War troop surge of 2007 than of a discontinued soft drink. --Hyperbole 07:01, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- Since Surge was the offical, proper name of the drink, Surge should definitely link directly here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.225.129.111 (talk) 16:58, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- Personally, I'm inclined to leave the soda on the "Surge" title, but some disambiguation may be in order. SchuminWeb (Talk) 19:11, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- And it's linked on the dab page linked from the article. The only thing on that list that's actually called "Surge" is the soda, so that should take center stage on the main title. SchuminWeb (Talk) 19:14, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

- Surge now links to the dab page. There's no way a defunct soda brand should be the default link when so many other defiitions also apply.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Surge logo.png
Image:Surge logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
