[edit] Cleanup tag
I tagged this for cleanup, expand and wikify. (And I put the reqimage above). It seems there can be a lot more material. How is a surf board made (steps, shapes, etc). History! These have evolved over time. Pictures of different styles of boards. Etc. RJFJR 23:57, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
If this is a disambig page then whre is it linking to? That is what a disambig page is supposed to do right? So we need to move the surfboard materil to another page. What do we call it? Surfboard (watersport) ? RJFJR 23:58, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
we deffentely need more on this subject im a 4 year surfer and i now 3 times as this much... im just not the type of person who can put time into this.
[edit] infor required
WE NEED SOMEONE TO PUT MORE INFO INTO THE SUBJECT!
[edit] History / Origin?
I had gotten to this article, looking for info on the origin of the surfboard - geography, religious significance (if any), hunting/fishing usage (if any), and forms. Although the link at the bottom has some info, it's nowhere near encyclopedic-level. Please, if there's anyone who knows this, please please fill it in... 89.139.86.43 15:42, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Merger proposal
It is my opinion that this article would be better if all the other surfboard articles (long, short and hollow wooden) were merged into this page. What do you guys think? --travisthurston+ 15:41, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- The Bonzer article doesn't only cover surfboards. AS somebody not into surfboards, if I was looking for Bonzer and was redirected to surfboard I would be very confused. I think the content could be merged and the Bonzer article could say something like it may refer to a type of sufboard and have a link plus it may be an adjective ... and retain the wiktionary link. Otherwise I am all for surfboard articles being merged into one comprehensive and well-written article.--Matilda talk 22:29, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- I disagree there is a big difference between the articles and maybe a link from one to the other would suffice otherwise the page becomes to long and confusing to read.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.24.7.9 (talk • contribs) 28 March 2008
- I don't think they should be merged. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.126.27.169 (talk) 04:56, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- They should be merged, the other articles are stubs and any information you can add to them would just be a repeat of the main surfboard article. Barhamd (talk) 16:34, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- No way should they be merged. You wouldn't merge all 'aeroplanes' into a single page, and surfboards are just as different in their characteristics as planes can be. Longboard, fish, big wave gun, shortboard etc. All completely different types, with different associated cultures. The Dave Parmenter article on surfboard genres is a good starting point for the uninitated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.103.38.69 (talk) 14:25, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- Merge as suggested. The main article would benefit from the contents of the others, and who's going to be searching for each individual variant? 24.6.157.14 (talk) 06:56, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- Merge. The article needs work. adding the different types, sizes, pictures and sections on accessories and companies would just make it a better article. we should also dab bonzer. If we want a good article, it will cover the topic comprehensively. --ThujaSol (talk) 03:09, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, merge it! Surfing is a good article, this one is not. But once all the other info is brought over, it will be much improved --MOM♫ (talk) 03:18, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] windsurfing board
I wonder if it wouldn't be wiser to include a section here (rather than separate article) discussiing these boards since they are fundamentally similar to regular surfboards. The section would discuss the basic differences in terms of how various surfboards differ (long, short, etc). Thoughts? --THE FOUNDERS INTENT TALK 14:25, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Merging
I brought over the content from surfboard fin and surfboard leash and the article is beginning to look a little more encyclopedic... anyone have any pics of parts or construction types they wanna upload? --ThujaSol (talk) 05:04, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
