Surrey County Intermediate League (Western)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Surrey County Intermediate League (Western) is one of the two intermediate football leagues in the English county of Surrey (the other is the Surrey South Eastern Combination). It comprises clubs from the west of Surrey and the Hampshire border areas. While the league is situated at the 11th level of the English football league system, it has not yet been incorporated into the National League System as a Step 7 league, unlike most other level 11 leagues. Nominally, it feeds the Combined Counties League. In 2008-09 the introduction of the Surrey Elite Intermediate League is hoped to fill the gap between this league and the Combined Counties League.

Currently the league has four divisions, a Premier Division and a Division One for both first teams and reserve sides. In the 2006-07 season, Knaphill won the Premier Division title, and were accepted for promotion into the Combined Counties League. In the 2007-08 season Worplesdon Phoenix were crowned Division One champions on the final day of the season after a 4–0 victory away to Dunsfold, while Horsley took the Premier Division title.
