From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Welcome to Wikipedia! I notice that you have created articles for several Aston Villa youth players. Please be aware that some of these players might not meet the Wikipedia guidelines for notability (Wikipedia:Notability (people) in this case). Generally, players who have not made a competitive first team appearance should not have articles unless they are issued with a first team squad number, and articles for players who do not may be listed for deletion. If you intend writing football related articles on a regular basis, WikiProject Football may be of use to you. Anyway, here is our standard welcome message:

It can take time to learn the ropes, but you'll soon pick it up. if you have any questions, just ask. Oldelpaso 14:17, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
The image looks fine, and has the correct source information, which is something people often forget. I find that a lot of the time, copying the wikimarkup from elsewhere and altering it is the easiest way to how to do something. Oldelpaso 18:08, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] NF-Board national football team template

Why did you remove some of the fields without any explanation? They all were applicable fields. I'm putting them back since you haven't left an explanation, and there are pages that use those fields.

[edit] NF-Board national football team template

fields removed because: non-FIFA nations do not have FIFA trigams, and often no ELO ranking, or home stadium, and the WILD Cup is not an official NF-Board competition - please sign edits

1) Non-FIFA nations DO have FIFA trigrammes. Check List_of_FIFA_country_codes. 2) Most of them DO have ELO rankings. Check [www.eloratings.net] 3) Again, some have home stadium -- and if they do not, it'll show up blank. I don't see a problem here. 4) FIFI Wild Cup has been the only major event for NF-Board so far.

Please respond to these or I'll revert back to my version.

I concede on the ELO rankings, but I think the application of a FIFA code to a non-FIFA nation is a little weird. As for the WILD Cup, it and the UNPO Cup are recognised by the NF-Board, but not NF-Board competitions. Only the VIVA World Cup is officially organised by the NF-Board. I think, however, there could be some way of recognising participation in these tournaments. Please register so we can discuss this properly. Superlinus 16:44, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
I feel that there isn't much point having those non FIFA teams on a template that isn't displayed on their pages Hammersfan 17/10/06, 12.15 BST

[edit] Sapmi

Sorry, was looking at the league table which does say 24, you might want to make them both the same. One Night In Hackney 17:23, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Aston Villa

Well Superlinus, I disagree. The list encompasses only the most worthy players to have pulled on the famous claret and blue. My argument being that the Villa have had many 'notable' players down the years (especially in recent years!) that do not merit a mention. Players such as David Ginola, Peter Schmeichel, Stan Collymore etc were all notable but they are not worthy of a place on the list. This is why I named the list 'Greatest Players'. Incidently as I have spent alot of time and energy getting the article up to the standard it now appears and have a vast knowledge of Villa's rich heritage I feel that my voice should be heard - I want the same as you - the best Aston Villa article as possible, as it serves as a worldwide advertisement to our great club.

[edit] History of Villa

I have copied it all to the template you started and had ago at chopping down the history but there is so much! - I have sorted out everything else apart from the history i was wondering if you want to do it or me to go through it with you and get this sorted then i think villa finally have the page they deserve (Everlast1910 15:29, 5 May 2007 (UTC))

[edit] 82

I was told to make this into a good article or FA we need a bigger section on 82 winning team thus why i added it in then, one of the admin for the football section is going to make the history balanced! - if you have any questions discuss with me Andy (Everlast1910 09:35, 7 May 2007 (UTC))

[edit] Players etc

Villa assessment I was sent: It's still a B I'm afraid, though your changes look to be sending the article in the right direction. The next step up from "B" is good article, which has its own criteria. The most immediately obvious areas for attention are that several paragraphs are unreferenced, and there is a heavy bias toward recent events (the 25th aniversary celebrations of the European Cup win take up as much space as the season in which it was won). Oldelpaso 20:42, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Oh, I see you've started a peer review. I'll put more detailed comments there. Oldelpaso 20:59, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

At some point tomorrow I'll see what I can do to balance out the History section. Oldelpaso 22:06, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
I agree with the Notable players. Then referance the played over a 100 times and the youngest player etc. See theres Freddie Bouma in there and how can he be compared to Paul McGrath or even Angel. (Everlast1910 10:34, 7 May 2007 (UTC))
I have seen that you have chopped down the history i have copied all the orignal over onto two separate pages like Arsenals!(Everlast1910 16:40, 7 May 2007 (UTC))

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:CNM.png

Thanks for uploading Image:CNM.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:03, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Elfcup.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Elfcup.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:56, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
